With recent rain we where able run a rare late August trip on Sugar Creek. We chose the less traveled section which doesn't have any livery traffic now that Clements is no longer operating.

The creek had risen to 9.89 ft on Wednesday. But had dropped to 5.35 ft with flow of 1030 cfs when we launched from Rock River Ridge trailhead/ PAS on Sunday August 23rd . We had 13 paddlers total with 11 in kayaks and 2 in whitewater duckys.

With creek level being up we enjoy quick flow with many minor rapids, wave trains and even a little surfing. We were still able find large gravel bar for a lunch at this level below Rattlesnake Creek. We travel a total distance was right about 12 miles.

Near the end with higher creek level we were able to paddle up into Indiana Creek which is part of the Pine Hills Nature Preserve and enjoy the sandstone bluffs.

We took out at Deer Mill covered bridge PAS after enjoying a beautiful day on the creek.
