Sunday Oct. 18 2pm - 7pm
Fall Colors Paddle - Eagle Creek Reservoir
Difficulty - Easy, Flat Water and Sea Kayak
Expected distance is 7-10 miles
Combined IYAK and HCKC event.
The Sunday afternoon forecast is lower 60 and mostly sunny with wind
below 10mph. The trees have changed and are looking pretty. The sun
sets at 7pm so we can stay out later to see it, or catch it loading
up. Bring a snack and we will stop along the way. The water level is
at winter pool and finding a spot will be easy.
Meet at the Dandy Trail Boat Ramp at 2pm. On the water by 2:30, off by
7pm. There is a $10 entry fee, however the bar has been up so no
charge to enter. If you don't mind carrying your boat and gear about
100 yards or so, you can park in the free lot between Rick's Cafe and
the marina of the bar is down.

The water temp is about 65 degrees, and with the wind it might feel
chillier on the water. A wetsuit with a dry top/splash jacket is good
combo, otherwise dress in layers with a rain/wind proof/resistance
outer layer.
Suggested items to bring: Kayak or SUP, paddle, PFD, wide brimmed hat,
sun block, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, large sponge, bilge pump or
container to bail out water, water, snacks, weather radio, towel,
change of clothes, water shoes, paddling gloves, rain gear, bug spray,
safety whistle, drybags, Ziplock bags, camera, binoculars, rope,
headlamp or flashlight, a sense of adventure, and a good dose of
humor.
For clothing try to use something other than cotton, especially if the
weather is cool. Polypropylene or polyester are good choices since
neither holds water and they wick moisture away from you.
Event hosts reserve the right to cancel due to inclement weather. Any
cancellation or adjustment to the schedule will be posted by email the
night before or sooner. This is a combined IYAK and HCKC event.

If you have not done so for this year, PLEASE FILL OUT THE NEW E-WAIVER. HCKC is moving to a new electronic waiver system instead of our old paper waiver. This only needs to be completed once each year. If you have already submitted your e-waiver, you do not need to do it again until next year. If you are bringing a non-member guest, they should use this e-waiver.
