Please register on the HCKC website or notify one of the trip sponsors if you plan to attend.  Conditions this time of year are especially unpredictable.  We want to notify everyone if we need to cancel at the last minute.  Trip sponsors are Sue Foxx 317-363-4074 sue.ann.foxx@gmail.com and Judy Thompson 765-366-1330 judy_thom@hotmail.com .

For the New Year's Day Paddle we plan to do the White River from just behind the Indianapolis Art Center where 67th street and Cornell dead end at the put in area.  This is just east of College Ave in Broad Ripple, north of Rusted Moon.  We will paddle down to Riverside Park.  This is less than 10 miles.

Meet at the put-in at 10:00 A.M.  Unload your boats and gear. We will run the shuttle and then paddle to the take-out.  We will not go in a steady rain, high or low water, or too much ice.  Please be sure to watch for a go- or no-go email. We will post an update 7 pm 12/31/2025 and let you know if it is a go or if the trip will be cancelled due to water or weather.

Please consult our cold-water paddling tips for ideas on gear. Drysuits or wetsuits if you have them.  You need to have a dry bag with at least one change of warm clothing. Dress in layers—an outer, wind and waterproof layer, fleece or silk inner layer, and fleece or silk underlayer for your top and for your pants. Waterproof gloves are a must. A warm head covering should also be included with your gear. And wool socks and waterproof, warm boots. No cotton. It is not a bad idea to bring two changes of extra clothes.

Also bring something to drink and a snack, although we likely will not hang out on the beach long enough to eat lunch. A thermos of hot coffee or other hot drink is a good idea.
