sea kayaking Weekend on Lake Michigan
July 12 - 14, 2019
LOCATION: Sea Kayak Training Weekend
Warren Dunes State Park, Michigan
SPONSOR: Nate Strong strong.nathan@att.net
DESCRIPTION: Paddling along the beautiful dune covered shores of Lake Michigan. We will take advantage of opportunities for paddlers to develop their skills and confidence in paddling in waves, which are frequently present on large bodies of water. These opportunities may include launching and landing in surf, paddling in the surf zone, bracing and boat control in wind and waves. We will limit paddling to conditions of 0-2’ waves and winds less than 20 knots. Should conditions be larger on Lake Michigan, we will likely paddle on the St. Joseph River or an inland lake.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn or practice skills needed for paddling in Lake Michigan & Lake Superior on our upcoming trips
- Pictured Rocks, South Manitou, Beaver Island
MEETING SITE: Warren Dunes State Park, Michigan
Camping at Warren Dunes or nearby campgrounds
ITINERARY: Friday June 21
