At 232 acres, McCloud Nature Park is a premier nature park in central Indiana. Visitors can enjoy over six miles of hiking trails, access to Big Walnut Creek, year-round programs at the Nature Center and a wide variety of wildlife viewing opportunities. Modern restrooms and picnic facilities are on-site. A park pavilion is available for group rental.
The event, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., would feature a tent where a battery of presentations would occur during the day, ranging from the history of the township and the park going back to its earliest incarnation in the 1930s, future plans and demonstrations (trapping, Indiana Astronomical Society, native Americans, birders, etc.)
Activities would include yard games, face painting, geocaching, juried booths for artwork and plein air painting, a creek stomp, guided tours of the various park elements, and atlatl throwing. The nature center would be open.
We will be using the McCloud Park put-in for the day, the paddle depending on flow should take about 5-6 hours Information about the river can be found here
