WW BEGINNER TRIP- CHRISTIANA CREEK- SATURDAY JUNE 10

On June 10, show up at Elkhart, Indiana's Willowdale Park at 10 A. M. EDT for a day of easy class one rapids . The last mile of Christiana Creek has 6 or 7 class I features, logs to dodge, and friendly eddies for ferrying, eddy turns, and peel outs. Practice your moving water roll. If you have rolled in a pool, give the creek a try, with easy rescues at hand.

Running the last mile takes about an hour, so multiple runs can be done to perfect your class I moves. The trip leader will stay as long as you want and run the creek until no one is still interested. Though this is billed as a beginner trip, everyone is welcome.

The Elkhart City Parks we will use do not have public restrooms, so you will want to find a place to relieve yourself before you show up. There is a McDonalds at 130 N. Main St. that's less than 10 minutes from the meeting place.

You need the 5 whitewater basics: helmet, neoprene spray skirt, pfd, paddle, and kayak. The kayak canbe a playboat, river runner, creeker, or crossover. If you put the word out there are many HCCmembers who will let you borrow a boat. You may want to add elbow pads if you don't have a reliablebrace! The water should be relatively warm.

Free primitive camping is available for Friday and Saturday nights. Be sure to request this ahead of time!

Camping also available at Potato Creek State Park
