HCC Communication Vehicles
The Hoosier Canoe Club has four major communication tools:
- Newletter - The Hoosier Paddler
This is our traditional newsletter published about 10 times a year. Members who have not elected to receive it in electronic form will receive a paper copy in the mail. When the newsletter is published each month, Past copies are also available from the Web.
Current Newsletter or click Newsletter in the left-hand menu of the HCC Web Page.
Past Issues or click Club Info in the left-hand menu of the HCC Web Page.
When the newsletter is published, a PDF version is posted on the Club Info page on our web site. An E-mail notice is also sent only to everyone on the Yahoo Users Group mailing so that you know when to check.
All members are encouraged to contribute articles to the membership. Members may also submit item for sale to the newsletter. Send articles, trip announcements, trip reports, and want ads to the Newsletter Editor at email@example.com.
- HCC Web Site
This is the official HCC web site maintained by Roger Kugler, firstname.lastname@example.org. Browse through our web site to see a recent membership list (members only), the trip schedule, membership form, paddling tips, pool session information, Constitution and By-Laws, and other items that you may find interesting. Check the web site every so often since its first page will be updated to highlight upcoming events.
- Yahoo Users Group Mailing List
This group is maintained by our Membership Chair, Dave Ellis, email@example.com, for the purpose of quickly getting information out to those members who have signed up for Group Mailing List. Do not worry about signing up. Dave must approve messages before they are distributed so we limit the postings to about one message per week. We currently use this list to notify members about last minute news on upcoming paddling trips, other club events, release of the newsletter.
To sent a message to the club: Send a posting ready item for this group to HCC_Members@yahoogroups.com. Remember that this is only for one-way communication to the club. Use the Bulletin Board is you want to have a two-way discussion with other club members.
To join this E-Mail group: Send an E-Mail to Dave Ellis at firstname.lastname@example.org. Dave only invites HCC members to join this group. E-mail addresses of those who have not paid their due by March will be purged but can be re-invited when they pay their dues.
- Bulletin Board
The HCC Bulletin Board is located at http://www.hccbulletinboard.org/forums/ and can be accessed by selecting Bulletin Board in the left-hand menu of the HCC Web Page. Anyone, member or not, can register to use the Bulletin Board. There are individual forums for Whitewater, Flatwater, General Interest, Items For Sale, Trip Reports, and other areas you can explore.
To register to post messages: Please send an email to email@example.com and make the subject of the email "HCCBB". Please be sure to include your desired User Name in the E-Mail. I will register your username and send you a temporary password. vAs soon as you receive the password, open the bulletin board and go to "User CP" (user control panel) and change your password. You should also fill out the optional profile information ("Edit Profile") to let other members know your boating preferences. This information also helps identify your registration as genuine and not "robot" generated.
To report difficulties or ask questions about the bulletin board, please contact Jordan at the e-mail address above.
